Sorry for the short conversation over Skype with you while I was in Taiwan just now.

Basically, both FX1000 and Z5 delivers the same image quality and has the same sensitivity. The major differences are:

1. Z5 has XLR input for more pro audio option
2. Z5 has the CF card recording device bundled - you can shoot with solid state media instead of just the tape.
3. Z5 supports Native Progressive mode for even better quality in 24p

* Note : if you are getting the Z5, confirm with the vendor whether it includes the CF recorder (HVR-MRC1K). Some may sell it optionally.

Both FX1000 and Z5 are good, it just depends on your budget and needs.
